Okay, if you think I'm sick (and I mean that in a good way), you have to check out Tim Leagjeld of Minnesota's collection and display. I'm the first to admit that when it comes to liner collecting, the green-eyed monster occasionally rears its head, and in the case of Tim's collection and presentation, my jealousy meter goes off the charts! Tim and I were introduced by our mutual friend Don Leavitt of Nautiques, and while we've yet to meet face to face, have cultivated an online friendship and kinship! Tim first sent me some pictures of his fantastic models, done in 1/125th scale. At first, I thought he had purchased these models, but just to make the green in my eyes glow even brighter, it turns out he built all of these from scratch himself! After you look at the photographs, scroll down to the bottom of this page to learn a mind-blowing fact about these gorgeous models. As our correspondence flourished, and Tim emailed me after enjoying this site, he sent me some photographs of the ocean liner museum he created -- in his home. So now I'm beyond jealous. Tim has found a way to display his collection that is both tasteful and dignified. He loves steamship china, and has amassed an impressive collection of CGT, Cunard, Italian Line, and United States Lines pieces among others. And be sure to drop into his SS United States bathroom, complete with authentic railings and restored medicine cabinet! Many thanks to him for allowing me to share his collection with visitors to this site, most of whom I'm pretty sure will have the same reaction I did! You can email Tim by clicking here. All of Tim's models are hand made from various thicknesses of paper! From standard paper to corrugated cardboard. The workmanship is perfection. Tim tells me it takes four to six weeks to finish one of his models, all of which range from 6 to 8.5'! |
