Introduced in 1931, this jaw-dropping example of art deco design most certainly was a forerunner of the fabled Normandie. In fact, many of her interior photos and illustrations could easily be mistaken for that other paquebot chef d'ouevre which came only a handful of years later.  Her exterior, while rigid and rather boxy, remains a classic of three-funnel design, and would be elegantly reinterpreted in the racing lines of the Normandie.

Tragically, after only 15 months of service, this art deco masterpiece was destroyed by fire and declared a total loss.  As a result, collectibles from this liner are scarce, but her memory and influence live on, earning her the number 4 spot on shipgeek's top 10!
