Ah, the Cunarder Queen Elizabeth, a
gorgeous streamlined version of her older sister, the Mary.
I love how everything on the original QE was simplified -- her
interiors, her profile (three funnels down to two), everything about
her. How I wish I could have traveled in this beautiful example of
post-war deco streamline moderne design. It's always fascinated me
how every nationality has their own interpretation of each design era,
and the British certainly had their own take on art deco. In
short, a lovely vessel, and one that comes in number 8 on my top 10! |
