Crossing on a White Star Liner - 1932

Get ready to sail aboard a variety of classic liners!  The first film on this page was shot during a transatlantic aboard an unidentified White Star Liner in 1932.  If any of you fellow ship geeks recognize the ship, by all means email me!  Music here is provided by the SS Leviathan orchestra. The second film was taken aboard the SS Laurentic during a Mediterranean Cruise in 1928.  Check out these naughty flapper girls smoking on deck!  And yes, that's Sophie Tucker singing Some Of These Days.  Next we have a couple who crossed to Southampton aboard the SS France in what looks like the early 1960s.  In the same batch of films, I found footage of this couple on a westbound return trip aboard the Liberté, so I imagined a time when one might cross over on the France and return on the Liberté.  Ah, the life!  Music is by Santo & Johnny.  Next we have Bermuda Here We Come, a delightful 8mm home movie shot aboard the SS America, which departed New York for Bermuda on April 25, 1963.  And boy did these travellers have fun!  Be sure to check out the "Rockettes" performing on deck!  Music is by the Furness Lines Orchestra.  Next is some incredible black & white footage shot aboard the Bremen during a cruise to Bermuda in the 1930s.  Mostly ship shots, no people, but check out the ship sailing past in the opening -- is it the Ile de France or the Berengaria?  If you know, by all means, email me!  Music is from the CD The Great Dance Bands Play Hits of the Thirties.
