In 2003, I was fortunate enough to acquire through an eBay auction (where else?), a set of Stereo Realist slides which turned out to have been taken during the sea trials of the SS United States. Note the absence of passengers, the crew members on deck, and no deck chairs. Also note the wake pattern in a couple of the shots, indicating the ship was being put through high speed maneuvers. When viewed in a Stereo Realist viewer, these images take on a three dimensional life that is simply jaw-dropping. Naturally, until 3-D hits the internet, you'll have to enjoy these pictures in all their 2-D glory. Click on the thumbnail to see a larger version.
